Classic Pearls Incorporated is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that was established by Phi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc. in May 2011. The non-profit affiliate of Phi Iota Omega was established to increase the positive impact that our organization has on our local community. The purpose of the
Classic Pearls is primarily to provide charitable and educational opportunities to the citizens of the metropolitan Birmingham community. The organization endeavors to award scholarships to eligible
students that will assist them with the payment of tuition and fees incurred in the pursuit of higher education. We also provide donations, educational experiences through workshops and assist with
feeding and clothing the less fortunate residents in our community. We are funded by our members, donations from the community, fundraiser(s) benefitting the organization, and grants from our
corporate partners.
Phi Iota Omega chapter has been a part of the Birmingham community since December 1999 and established a strong record of service through its programs that
included partnering with Aletheia House (Back to Work Program and Suit Drive), partnering in education at North Birmingham Elementary School, working with Better Basics on the Motivators of Reading
Enrichment (M.O.R.E.) Program, feeding the homeless and less fortunate at Firehouse Shelter, First Light, and Pathways, providing scholarships to high school seniors annually and numerous other
programs over the years. Expanding our efforts by establishing the non-profit allows us to do more with the support of our community and collaborative partners as we continue to be of service to all
mankind in the greater Birmingham metropolitan area.
